Building A Foundational Wardrobe

You spoke, we listened. When we asked our customers what their 2021 wardrobe goals were, simplifying their closets with classic, high-quality pieces was the common theme.

To us, aiming to build a wardrobe off of foundational pieces doesn’t mean we have to rid our closets of everything we own. Instead, we see it as creating a foundation to build off of, so that you can bring a mindful approach while shopping to craft your personal style.

Allow this selection to act as a guide to help you curate a fundamental structure of long-lasting, versatile classics. With a solid core, the styling opportunities are endless.

The Base
The perfect basics are hard to come by. The Le Bon Shoppe Vintage Boy Tee is the ideal crewneck — it’s soft, has a perfect silhouette, and the ribbed band finish on the neckline adds an elevated finish to a traditionally plain piece. Having a few simple colors to choose from, like black and white, will give you options.

Crisp Blouse
Keep things fresh with a crisp and airy button-down. The delicate silhouette of this Lacausa blouse with a band collar is a new approach to a classic collared button-down.

Knitwear
We like to invest in quality knits that will serve as a foundation for years to come. The versatility of sweaters also makes them an essential staple — anything that can be paired with both sweats and denim is a win in our book.

A chunkier knit and a turtleneck are familiar choices, but also consider a sweater with a feminine silhouette that is equally sophisticated and comfortable. Aim for a piece with elevated qualities, such as a ribbed texture, a square-neckline, or a balloon sleeve. We’re really into this top that incorporates all three.

Good Jeans
A go-to pair of denim is the key to effortless dressing. Finding a fit that makes you feel great doesn’t hurt either, especially when they transition seamlessly from month-to-month. Our current favorites are the The Everyday Jean and The Polished Straight

White Denim
Once the perfect blue jean has been discovered, switch things up with a light-colored pant. This fresh take on a white pair of denim checks all of the boxes — high-waisted, wide leg, and slightly cropped. There's a lot of hesitation about white after Labor Day, but this “bone” colorway is wearable year-round.

Tailored Pant
For an office look that can be carried into the weekend, try a tailored pant. The tapered leg keeps these casual, while the high-rise, paperbag waist with a belt adds some flare.

Slip Dress
A slip dress has a way of making us feel put together without trying too hard. This black satin midi dress pairs well with everything, and works for any occasion. Dress it up with a blazer and heels, or dress it down with sneakers and a denim jacket.

Classic Blazer
Feel powerful stepping into the new year with a sleek, black blazer. This staple is perfect for anyone wanting to elevate their wardrobe. We prefer ours with a notched lapel, a strong shoulder, and slightly oversized.

Casual Outerwear
A seasonal transitional piece is essential. A lightweight overcoat is understated and complementing to the foundation of your look. A layer with a longer length will balance out proportions.

The Finishing Touch
Shiny details add a little oomph to an everyday ensemble. An elegant, minimal gold hoop and herringbone necklace are a great addition to refine a simple look.

We hope these pieces inspire you to create space for new beginnings. Establishing your personal style is a life-long journey, and we are looking so forward to assisting you in the process.
